Fireworks and the Law FAQ

If I buy fireworks out of season, when can I use them?

If you are over 18 then it is perfectly legal to buy and use fireworks at any time of the year but please note that it is an offence to let fireworks off during night hours (11pm to 7am), except on Bonfire Night (midnight), Diwali, New Year and Chinese New Year (1am).

Can shops sell fireworks all year round, I thought this was illegal?

Most retail outlets have a seasonal licence that allows them to sell fireworks at specific times of the year. Our store has an all-year licences allowing us to sell fireworks all year.

I have seen youth's letting of fireworks, what can I do?

Following a recent change in the law, it is now illegal for persons under 18 to have fireworks in their possession in a public place. If you see someone, who you think is under 18, with fireworks in a public place then call the Police and report the incident.

Whoosh Fireworks do not condone the irresponsible or under age use of fireworks.
